Umag
In 1997 Umag got the status of the city whose territory extends to the surface of 87,57 km2. It is placed on the North of the peninsula of Istria. Past 10 years Umag has developed into a modern touristic city. Every summer you can come to a tennis tournament Croatia Open that has made this city famous all over the world. Umag has opened the Folk Open University “Ante Babić” that is responsible for organizing cultural activities. The museum of the city is placed in a historical core and keeps a valuable collection of archeological findings. Umag has an interesting history. It all began when Roman patricians discovered him and decided to take the city as their summer residence. The city kept ruins of an ancient city walls and forts and Renaissance and Baroque buildings.
